- Legacy. A higher purpose, a mission, a cause. This means knowing that in some way — large or small — the world will be a better place after you've done your work.
- Mastery. This refers to the art of getting better and better at skills and talents that you enjoy using, to the extent that they become intertwined with your identity. Picture a Jedi, or a Samurai, or a master blacksmith.
- Freedom. The ability to choose who you work with, what projects you work on, where and when you work each day, and getting paid enough to responsibly support the lifestyle that you want.

- They're strong. You can recognize the moment by the intense feelings it invokes. The moment itself doesn't necessarily need to be dramatic, but what it brings up in you is.
- They keep showing up. Sometimes, the experiences will reoccur. You'll notice an issue again and again. Patterns will emerge and you will see that, for whatever reason, you are drawn to delve deeper into this particular issue.
- They're personal. The moments are very often personally meaningful. They are connected to your own experiences, or the experiences of people you care most about, the way in which Socheata's moment of obligation was.
- They take hold. Finally, they just won't let you go. They scream for your attention, creeping into your mind when you are minding your own business — sitting on the couch, watching TV, or trying to get a good night's sleep.

- Seed Capital: Inventors can request seed capital from their business unit managers; if their request is denied, they can seek funding from other business units. Inventors can also apply for corporate funding in the form of a Genesis Grant. (The Post-it was funded by a Genesis Grant.)
- New Venture Formation: Product inventors must recruit their own teams, reaping the benefit of 3M's many networking forums as they seek the right people for the job at hand. The recruits have a chance to evaluate the inventor's track record before signing up. However, if the product fails, everyone is guaranteed their previous jobs.
- Dual-career ladder:: Scientists can continue to move up the ladder without becoming managers. They have the same prestige, compensation, and perks as corporate management. As a result, 3M doesn't lose good scientists and engineers only to gain poor managers, a common problem in the manufacturing sector.

- Help others develop. Interestingly, the APA study indicated that 70% of employees feel valued at work when they have opportunities for growth and development. While promotion opportunities within companies may sometimes be limited, you can still invest in team members' professional development through training, assignment to new and interesting projects, participation on task forces, and exposure to new and interesting different areas through cross-training. Employees frequently have skills that extend beyond the position for which the company hired them. Additionally, they typically grow their skills over time. Leveraging these broad skill sets can lead to greater engagement and satisfaction.
- Involve employees. Team members feel valued when they have an opportunity to take part in decision-making, problem-solving, and to use their skills to benefit the organization. A 2012 study by the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM) showed the importance of employees' opportunities to use skills and abilities, with 63% of respondents listing the ability to use their skills as the top driver of their job satisfaction.
- Support camaraderie and collegiality. I conducted a study many years ago on the positive benefits of friendship in the workplace . Camaraderie in the workplace can lead to greater job satisfaction and commitment to the organization and doing a job well. Leaders should foster collegiality, help to eliminate toxic and dysfunctional team behaviors, and create opportunities for team members other than on work projects. At Google, the games/toys the company provides allow for entertaining and informal interactions among colleagues. These positive and fun feelings carry over when the colleagues work on projects together. The SHRM study in 2012 found employees' relationships with their co-workers was the second highest factor related to their connection and commitment to the organization. Team leaders may also consider using social contracts, explicit agreements on how team members interact, to help shape positive behaviors within their teams.

I'd like to share it to you with some more explanation of what you're seeing here. The image struck me because it's both beautiful and terrifying; at first glance, it looks like a piece of jewelry or decorative art, a sort of Fabergé egg meant to kill.
Here's what you're seeing. The pin is visible as the ring behind the grenade, at the left, and the pin which is sticking out through the handle. Its role is to hold the safety clip in place. When released, the clip can fall off (when throwing it, you grip the clip in your hand and pull the pin; as it leaves your hand, the clip falls) which lets the hammer (diagonal line at left) move on its spring and whack the primer. (Orange stuff and triangle at the top center) This lights the delay charge (bright turquoise) which burns for three seconds; at the end, it releases the clips (blue and gold) which are holding the spring (coiled at the center) fixed. This pushes down the striker pin (the golden rod at the middle) so that it strikes the primer charge (red) which sets off the initiator charge (greenish-gray). This, in turn, will detonate the parts which were removed from this grenade: booster charges of very fast explosive (tetryl) which are wrapped around the cylinder, and Composition B which fills the entire body of the grenade, the main explosive.
The golden squares which you see around the rim are actually a single coil of wire which wraps the whole mechanism and which has been notched into cubes. These cubes are torn apart by the explosion and fired off as shrapnel in all directions. It's surrounded by a thin sheet of metal that holds it all together. The result is designed to kill or maim anyone within 15 meters when it goes off.
Why am I going through all this? I think it's because the dissonance between the beauty of the item and its nature. I remember a similar feeling as a child, when I was quite obsessed with nuclear weapons. (A side effect of growing up during the Cold War; I could recite for you, in great detail, the effects of nuclear explosions, the models of weapon, and where they were likely to hit) They have a beautiful, elegant simplicity, and produce something which genuinely strains the outer ability of the human mind to comprehend. And that something is destructive.
We are attracted to and repelled by death, in all its forms.

NASSCOM Opens First Startup Warehouse In Bangalore
Bangalore: India’s IT industry representative body Nasscom Tuesday opened its first start-up warehouse in this tech hub for young entrepreneurs to innovate software products and solutions for the domestic and export markets.
“The Karnataka government is collaborating with us to create an ecosystem where budding entrepreneurs can incubate their tech start-ups in the product space,” National Association of Software and Services Companies (Nasscom) president Som Mittal said on the occasion.
Located on the upscale old airport road in the eastern suburb of the city, the warehouse has about 10,000 square feet space with 70 seats to accommodate 25 start-ups. The entrepreneurs will have leased internet line, power backup and four meeting rooms.
“We are unveiling the country’s first incubation centre with six start-ups, selected from about 4,000 applications received for our ’10,000 start-ups programme’ initiated recently to support entrepreneurs in their early stage of operation with angel funding,” Mittal asserted.
